Percussion Ensembles

The TCU Percussion Ensembles are dedicated to furthering percussion education and performance by commissioning new works, performing a variety of literature on and off campus, and producing high-quality recordings. After being chosen by blind audition in the International Percussion Ensemble Competition, the Percussion Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble performed a Showcase Concert at the 2005, 2008, 2011, 2015, and 2019 Percussive Arts Society International Conventions (PASIC). Many new works commissioned/premiered by TCU were performed on these concerts. In 2011 they made their New York City debut, performing at the Kaufman Center’s Merkin Hall. In 2015, their latest CD, Prelude to Paradise, was commercially released on Albany Records. In total, the TCU Percussion Orchestra has commissioned/premiered over 40 pieces in recent years and is looking forward to more premieres in upcoming seasons.

TCU has also developed a successful Steel Band program with performances at the TMEA Convention, Fort Worth’s Bass Hall, and many local venues.

The marching percussion programs at TCU (Marching Band Drumline, Indoor Drumline and summer camps) have thrived in recent years. The Indoor Drumline placed first at the PAS Marching Percussion Festival in 2006 and 2012, winning every caption they were eligible for in 2006 and winning the “Fred Sanford Award” in 2012 for the highest scoring ensemble of the Festival.
