Horned Frog Marching Band

The TCU Horned Frog Marching Band is one of the university’s most prestigious and visible organizations, attracting students from nearly every field of study. With TCU’s membership in the Big 12 Conference, the band performs for crowds of nearly 200,000 fans in an electrifying football atmosphere throughout the fall.

  • Open to all TCU students.
  • Features nearly 300 members with diverse talents and musical interests.
  • Provides enriching experiences that enhance careers and vocations in music.
  • Offers a $4,000 scholarship for participation during the fall semester. (Please note: at
this time, this scholarship only applies to enrolled TCU students and is not available for students enrolled in extended education programs)
  • Performs at all home football games, select away games, marching festivals, pep rallies, bowl games and Fort Worth Stock Show Parade.

While Marching Band is a fall semester course, members are encouraged to participate in one of three spring concert ensembles: Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, or University Concert Band. Both the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band also rehearse in the fall, offering even more opportunities for musical growth.

2026-2027 Season News

First off, we expect that again this will be the largest band in TCU program history! In addition, we are switching to a multi-show model which will provide a ton more variety throughout the season. From a travel standpoint, we will be traveling as a full band to the Baylor game and performing an exhibition at BOA San Antonio, one of the best high school band contests in the nation. We have also upgraded our football stadium with LED lights, allowing for an even more exciting game day environment and the use of color-changing effects during pre-game and halftime. I also expect our football program will continue to be highly competitive in the Big 12 Conference, leading to us traveling for the post season to a quality bowl game and/or the College Football Playoff.

Program Information

Non-TCU students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area may participate in the Horned Frog Marching Band through TCU's Extended Education Program. For more information, contact Sharie Owens at s.owens@tcu.edu or call 817-257-7640.

All eligible TCU marching band members receive a $4,000 scholarship distributed in three payments throughout the fall semester. To receive your scholarship via direct deposit, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to my.tcu.edu
  2. Navigate to Student Financial Services
  3. Select 'Direct Deposit Setup'
  4. Enter your banking information
  5. Submit and allow 5-7 business days for processing

International students should contact Mrs. Owens for alternative payment arrangements. (s.owens@tcu.edu)

We have a media team as a part of the band program who assist with creating social media content, taking photos, and posting audio/video from performances. Any members interested in joining the media team for the 2026-2027 school year must also be a part of the marching band. (i.e. you must audition and perform with the ensemble - returning media team members excluded) Ideally, we would love a diverse group of students participating in a number of different ensembles (i.e. HFB, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Basketball Band, etc.) If you are interested in being a part of the media team this year, please complete the information form and Dr. Dickey will be in touch about the application process.
