Sheet music

The Division of Music Theory at TCU offers selective, personalized instruction, helping you explore music’s core principles, including rhythm, melody, harmony, texture and timbre.

Throughout the year, you'll perform your own compositions and those of peers at student composer concerts, and collaborate with renowned composers through:

  • Masterclasses
  • Private lessons
  • Open rehearsals

You'll also have access to TCU's Upchurch Studio for Electro-Acoustic Music, where you can explore new technologies for performance, analysis, composition, education and research.

Degree Programs

Whether you're pursuing undergraduate study or graduate-level training, we offer a variety of music theory-focused programs:

Undergraduate Degrees

Graduate Degrees

Applicants must complete both the general TCU admission application and a separate School of Music application, which includes a required prescreening video. Selected candidates will be invited to audition on campus.
