Harp Ensemble
The TCU Harp Ensemble serves as an enhancement to the private study and large ensemble experience of TCU harpists. The ensemble meets two hours weekly with the instructor for rehearsal. Performance opportunities with the ensemble include a class recital, optional duo or trio performances on weekly School of Music Recital Hour and other group appearances at university-related events or public venues. Through instructor-led rehearsals and coachings, the students develop a solid base of ensemble skills, harp technique, musicianship, stage deportment and professional conduct. Skills learned in Harp Ensemble translate to excellence in performing chamber music with other instruments, accompanying vocalists or choir and participating in orchestra or band. The students are introduced to challenging repertoire of advanced level that is drawn from a wide variety of musical styles, including arrangements and transcriptions of well-known works as well as original compositions for harp ensemble.
The TCU Harp Ensemble has performed in conjunction with the Latin American Music Festival, presented a collaborative recital with the TCU Flute Choir and TCU Brass Ensemble, hosted and performed in a joint recital with the University of North Texas Harp Ensemble, recorded two Christmas arrangements for the School of Music Christmas CD project, provided entertainment at the annual Scholarship Dinner and the Tucker Technology Center Celebration of Student Research and performed on the annual TCU Harp Ensemble Spring Recital.
