Applicants will be notified if they advance to the audition round to perform on campus. All auditions must be completed by February 8. First-year undergraduates invited to audition will be considered for scholarships. 

Bassoon

  • A one- to three-minute recording of a solo with or without accompaniment.
  • Two solos from the standard repertoire that demonstrates technical and lyrical ability. Choose one movement if the solo is a multi-movement work.
  • All Major scales and chromatic scale for the range of the instrument.
  • We request that candidates not perform any all-state etudes from the current or previous academic year.
  • Sightreading. 
  • Live auditions are recommended. If you are unable to schedule a live audition, you may submit video audition recordings.
  • The length of each live audition is approximately 10-15 minutes.

Clarinet

  • A one- to three-minute recording of a solo with or without accompaniment.
  • Two solos from the standard repertoire that demonstrate technical and lyrical ability. Could also be two contrasting movements from the same solo.
  • All Major scales and chromatic scales for the range of the instrument memorized.
  • We request that candidates not perform any all-state etudes from the current or previous academic year.
  • Sightreading.
  • Bass clarinet auditions – you must audition on Bb clarinet and may choose to substitute one of your selections with a bass clarinet solo or etude
  • Live auditions are recommended. If you are unable to schedule a live audition, you may submit video audition recordings.
  • Pianist not required.

Flute
