Spring 2026 Audition Timeline

  • March 25: Preliminary feature twirler audition materials due
  • March 31: Finalists notified to participate in live auditions
  • April 19: Live auditions on the TCU campus

Audition materials must be submitted by March 25 and include the following:

  1. Resume (this should include academic, twirling and service sections)
  2. Three letters of reference (prior band director and twirling coach preferred)
    Featured Twirler Reference Form
    Form should be emailed to all references to be completed anonymously.
  3. Essay that answers the following prompt: Why are you the ideal candidate to be a feature twirler at Texas Christian University?
  4. Performance video that includes the demonstrated ability for the following tricks:
    1. 4+ Spins on the field
    2. 1-Spin illusion (Double Illusion/Walkover preferred)
    3. Traveling Tricks/Downfield Tricks
    4. Advanced Low Flips/Contact Tricks
    5. Continuous rolls –  back neck rolls, fujimis and elbow pops
    6. 2 & 3 baton, 4 baton highly recommended
    7. A variety of releases + receptions
    Resume, Essay & Video Audition Form
    The performance video should include recent performances and competitions, and an unedited video of 2+ minute of continuous twirling.  Video should not exceed 6 minutes.

Feature twirler candidates must have the following:

  1. Baton twirling skills that include:
    1. 4 spins
    2. 1-spin illusion (double illusion/walkover preferred)
    3. Traveling tricks/downfield tricks
    4. Continuous rolls (back neck rolls, fujimis, elbow pops, etc.)
    5. Advanced 2 & 3 baton (4 baton highly recommended)
    6. A variety of releases + receptions
  2. Strong proficiency in reading and executing drill formations
  3. Dynamic performer with exceptional showmanship and clear communication skills
  4. Highly self-motivated and dependable in both rehearsal and performance setting
  5. Dedicated team player who collaborates effectively to achieve ensemble excellence
