Artist Diploma in Voice – New York City Auditions

The Artist Diploma in Voice is a two-year program designed for singers to transition from academia to a national and/or international performing career.  The Artist Diploma program offers weekly individualized voice instruction, vocal coaching, language//diction seminars, acting training and performance opportunities in opera, concert and solo repertoire.  In the final semester of study, Artist Diploma candidates receive digital press kits and present a showcase in New York City for casting directors, agents, and industry professionals.

Compensation
Tuition Waiver for 2 years of training

Restrictions: Applicants need to have completed at least a bachelor’s degree.

Age Limit: No limit

How to Apply

Materials Required

  1. Complete the School of Music online Audition Request Application
  2. Upload your high-quality video file, resume, letter of intent and 3 recommendations
  3. Application Fee is $80

A prescreening video is required of all applicants. You will be notified if you advance to the audition round. Upload prescreening recordings with piano for the same repertoire to be performed for the audition.

Audition Repertoire

  • The candidate should present at least 6 selections, including songs and arias in contrasting styles and at least 3 different languages, including English.
  • Performances should demonstrate the fullest range of the applicant’s artistry.
  • One selection should have been written since 1980.
  • All selections must be performed from memory.

Live auditions are recommended. If you cannot attend one of the live general audition dates, you may submit video audition recordings. You will have the option to upload videos different from those you submitted for the prescreening round. All prescreening recordings and any audition not performed in person must be in uploaded to the Audition Request Application.

Pianist Provided

An accompanist and rehearsal will be provided or may choose to use own accompanist.
