About

Dazheng Zhu has been teaching piano lessons at all levels in the TCU Music Preparatory program since 1995.

Ms. Dazheng Zhu, an adjunct Assistant Professor (2001-present ) at The University of Texas at Arlington Music Department, teaches Piano at all levels, plus courses in Music Theory I, II and III, Ear Training levels I – IV, Elements of Music,  Music Appreciation, and Class Piano.  Since 2001, Ms. Zhu serves as a music adjunct faculty at the Tarrant County College, teaching all levels in Piano, Class piano, Music appreciation, Theory and Ear training in College level 1-3.

Ms. Zhu holds a B.A. in Music and Piano Performance from The University of Texas at Arlington and Master of Music from Texas Christian University in Piano Pedagogy, where she studied with Dr. Tamás Ungár and Ms. Leeann Kirkham at TCU.  She also studied private lessons and some Master Classes with Professors Joseph Bloch and Rudolph Firkusny, (both from The Julliard School) in Shanghai Music Conservatory 1982-1985.

Ms. Zhu participated in the Lancaster International Piano Festival in the Summer of 2017, the 18th Piano Master Classes at Guang Zhou of China in the Summer of 2018, and the 5th of China Lan Zhou International Piano festival in the Summer of 2019.

Ms. Zhu is a very active private piano teacher in DFW area. Most of her students have won Superior plus ratings at AMTA piano contests and festivals and several have entered competitions at the state level. From 2002 to present, many of her students won first place in district piano contests, and also won Fort Worth piano solo contests earning 1st ,  2nd , 3rd and 4th places.

Ms. Zhu has given numerous piano recitals in China, New York, and in the D/FW area. Her many honors and awards including Winner of UTA Concerto Competition, Outstanding Musician and International Leadership Awards, etc. She has also judged many piano competitions and contests at D/FW music fields. Ms. Zhu has been serving as the Chairman of the Outstanding Musicianship Awards of Arlington Music Teacher Association since 2006. She is a member of the TMTA, the AMTA, the FWMTA, and the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Club.
