In addition to TCU’s full range of scholarships, the College of Fine Arts provides competitive awards specifically for fine arts majors, with additional scholarships available through individual departments and schools for accepted students. 

Established in 1965 by Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Nordan, the Nordan Young Artist and Nordan Scholar Awards are competitive college-level scholarships available for art, graphic design, dance, music and theatre.

Nordan Young Artist Awards

  • Eligibility: Incoming first-year students demonstrating exceptional talent in art, graphic design, dance, music, or theatre (12 or fewer semester hours of academic credit)
  • Application: Audition or portfolio submission
  • Renewal: Recipients may renew for up to three years, with a 3.0 GPA in the award area and meeting general university standards for non-probation students.

Nordan Scholar Awards

  • Eligibility:
    • Open to holders of the Nordan Young Artist Award who meet renewal criteria
    • Undergraduate majors in art, graphic design, dance, music, or theatre when a Nordan Award becomes available. Selection by audition or portfolio review.
  • Renewal: Renewable for the remainder of the student's academic program, up to three years.

Nordan Awards Information & Deadlines

Nordan Awards are exclusively granted to students admitted to the university. Recipients must major in the field corresponding to the award. Theatre students must be earning the BFA degree.
