The College of Fine Arts guides you every step of the way to identify and accomplish your academic and career goals. Use the following resources to track your degree progress and set yourself up for success.
Undergraduate
Students may locate their degree requirements by selecting “Degree Progress Core Inquiry” within the Academic Records tile in their MyTCU portal or by selecting “Plan” once inside their student profile in the Stellic platform. These degree planning tools are intended to be used in consultation with your academic advisor through regularly scheduled advising appointments each semester.
Follow these instructions to request approval for transfer credit in MyTCU. Prior approval from the Dean’s office is required for transfer coursework.

Use this tool to find courses that have previously been approved to transfer to TCU.
- Transfer of Major Coursework Form
Complete this form to request credit for transfer coursework in the major.
Your advisor and department chair will use this form if a course substitution is needed for your major.
Please review the Departmental Honors Guidelines and the Departmental Honors process and principal duties.
Complete this form to request permission to take more than 18 hours in each semester. A minimum cumulative TCU GPA of 3.5 is required for consideration.
Complete this form to request an extension of the deadline for an incomplete grade.
Students must submit the intent to graduate form to the College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office after completing 96 hours of coursework or two semesters before graduation, whichever comes first. For a double degree, file an intent to graduate form with each college housing your major departments.
Complete this form to request a class be added to your schedule after the enrollment deadline.
Complete this form to request permission to take CLEP, AP, IB, or other exams for credit after matriculating at TCU.
The College of Fine Arts Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (URCA) Grants support student excellence in academic and artistic projects.
Applications will be reviewed once a month, beginning on the second Monday of the month, from September until April, or as long as funds are available. Decisions on awards will be emailed by the third Monday of the month in which the application was reviewed.
- The maximum award will be $750 per student per year.
- Open to all Fine Arts majors in good academic standing
- Preference will be given to graduating seniors and students who have not been awarded an URCA grant.
- Funds are not available for summer projects.

Graduate

Student Essentials
- My.TCU: The portal will give you access to grades, financial aid data and class registration.
- TCU ID Cards: Students must obtain a TCU ID card from the ID Card Center.
- Parking Permits: Students can apply for campus parking permits. The permit cost is not included in graduate financial aid.
- The Graduate Catalog: The catalog contains information related to degree plans and courses. The catalog at the time when you declare your degree is the one that applies throughout your time at TCU.
Deadlines
The TCU Academic Calendar is available on the Registrar’s website. Please be sure to review this calendar and adhere to all deadlines. The Schools of Music and Art may also have internal deadlines for completion of specific degree requirements or responsibilities. Please pay careful attention to communications from the units regarding those deadlines.

Registering for Classes
It is critical that graduate students enroll in a timely manner, so please plan to meet with your advisor(s) as soon as possible. Please note that some courses may require permission numbers to enroll; those will be assigned by your advisor or another designee in either Music or Art. Students cannot be guaranteed full funding for any courses added after the registration deadline, so please ensure you are completely and correctly registered.
Health Insurance
TCU’s Student Health Insurance (SHI) is available to graduate students. Graduate students in the College of Fine Arts who are receiving an assistantship are eligible for a Graduate Health Insurance Award (HIA), which covers 75% of the cost of this insurance plan.

Students who are joining the TCU community from outside the US will receive information from the International Student Services Office regarding their visa status, financial status, and I-20 forms.
