Scholarship & Aid
Many students receive financial assistance, either through a single scholarship or a combination of awards. Students are encouraged to begin working with TCU’s Financial Aid office as soon as they are admitted to the Department of Design and TCU.
Nordan Young Graphic Designer Award
Deadline for the 2026 Nordan Scholarships is January 30, 2026.
Open to entering first-year students of superior talent in graphic design with 12 or fewer semester hours of academic credit. Selection is based on a portfolio as part of the application process. Students who satisfy the criteria for renewal will be designated Nordan Scholars and receive a merit-based award annually for the remainder of their undergraduate program (renewable for up to three years).
Merit Scholarship Award
for Current TCU Graphic Design Majors & Pre-Majors
Merit scholarships are for students who are currently enrolled at TCU or students
who have transferred to TCU and are majoring in graphic design or design studies.
Awards will be assigned to the top candidates presenting portfolio/works in the annual
open competition. Selection is made by submission and presentation of a portfolio
and statement of professional goals. Late or incomplete portfolios will not be accepted.

Renewal of Merit Scholarships
Current recipients of the Nordan Young Graphic Designer Award and other merit-based scholarships must submit an annual portfolio to renew their awards. Renewal eligibility is also based on maintaining a 3.0 GPA in their area of study and meeting TCU’s academic standards for non-probationary students.
Each spring, recipients will receive specific details and deadlines regarding the renewal process for their merit scholarships.

There are several industry sponsored scholarships for interior design and design studies with a concentration in architectural lighting design students.
