Rhonda Wolverton holds an MFA in Visual Communications from the University of Houston and a BFA from Brigham Young University. Before joining TCU in August 2023, she served as an Associate Professor of Visual Communication Design at the University of Indianapolis. There, she led One-14 Design as the Creative Director—a faculty-led, student-driven design agency dedicated to design thinking and co-design with non-profit organizations. Rhonda’s professional background includes roles as a Creative Director for a boutique design agency, Marketing Director for a luxury real estate auction company, and she built an in-house design department for a home décor company. She continues to pursue her passion as a freelance designer.
Through her work Rhonda seeks to be a creator of transformation not just a maker of things. She leverages design’s power to inform, persuade, and advocate, aiming to empower individuals, connect people, and engage communities. Through her work she explores the semiotics of language and visual representation, employing subversive techniques to challenge traditional symbols with new ideas. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, human-centered design, and service-learning, she strives to align diverse communities toward social good. By creating situational spaces, she hopes to foster dialogue, raise awareness, and inspire action that leads to meaningful and lasting change.
