Allen Cordingley is Assistant Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies at the TCU School of Music.

Allen has cultivated a distinguished career as a versatile saxophonist, seeking to excel in both concert and jazz settings. He has performed concertos with orchestras and embarked on tours with jazz ensembles, notably the renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra.

In addition to his saxophone prowess, Cordingley holds a deep appreciation for big band music. As a director, he is driven to explore the boundaries of programming, incorporating innovative repertoire while maintaining a commitment to the timeless compositions that have shaped this musical genre.

Allen Cordingley, also the director of the TCU Jazz Festival, organizes this renowned event that attracts an impressive thirty bands from across Texas. Additionally, the festival features an international jazz artist performing with the TCU Jazz Ensembles. Recent festivals have featured Sean Jones, Wycliffe Gordon, and Camille Thurman.

Allen holds degrees from Lawrence University and Youngstown State University where his primary teachers were Steven Jordheim and Dr. James Umble. Prior to his appointment at TCU, Mr. Cordingley was Distinguished Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
