Education

Ethan Worland is a Dallas-based musician with over 10 years professional experience. He attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where he majored in jazz drumming. During his time at BTWHSPVA, Ethan discovered his love of Afro-Cuban and Guinean folkloric music. This led him to study music, language, and culture in Cuba, and in college at UNT and SMU. As a member of Bandan Koro African drum and dance ensemble Ethan worked with many masters from Guinea, Mali, and the Ivory Coast. Ethan has recorded and/or performed with artists from all over the world including: Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Jon Bap, Micheal “Blaque Dynamite” Mitchell and many others. Today, Ethan is active in the Afro-Cuban community as a drummer of the sacred aña bata drums. His mission is to illuminate the planet with dance, song, and drum.
