TCU Percussion Orchestra, conducted by Professor Brian A. West.

The TCU Percussion Orchestra, conducted by Professor Brian A. West, D.M.A., has once again earned a coveted performance spot at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) following a blind, refereed selection process open to university ensembles around the globe.

Only three universities are chosen each year, and winners must wait three years before re-entering. With more than 7,000 percussionists in attendance annually, PASIC is considered the “national championship” of percussion, the pinnacle achievement for university ensembles.

This year’s selection marks another historic milestone for TCU: The ensemble has now achieved its second “three-peat,” winning in 2025, 2022 and 2019, and previously in 2011, 2008 and 2005, with an additional win in 2015.

The ensemble’s concert will include six TCU-commissioned works, five of which are world premieres. Two of the premieres are composed by School of Music alumni Brandon Cummings ’18 and Anthony Chmielewski ’25.

“We’re excited to perform again on the PASIC stage in front of this international audience,” West said. “This year marks the 20th anniversary of TCU’s first appearance at this convention and the 50th anniversary of the convention itself. We are proud of the TCU Percussion Studio for this longevity and remarkable achievement in percussive excellence.”
