The TCU Summer Music Institute provides an intensive, yet fun-filled educational experience through two-, three- and four-day camps and workshops. Middle school, high school, and college-age students participate in a variety of masterclasses, rehearsals, concerts, and recreational activities in a welcoming and supervised environment.

Students have the opportunity to stay on campus, interact with TCU faculty, and experience what it’s like to be a musical Horned Frog.

Welcome to SMI’s Overnight Resident Experience! At TCU, we’re all about making sure your son or daughter has a safe, fun, and memorable stay while they explore, learn, and make lasting musical friendships.

Our trained counselors supervise participants at all times, ensuring everyone’s well-being and safety. All participants will share a room, paired by age and/or grade. Rooms and bathrooms are gender segregated. Does your son or daughter want to room with a friend? We’re happy to accommodate roommate requests, so that participants can share in their summer music experience together. Please remember to include your request on the registration form.

For sleeping arrangements, beds are extra-long twins—you’ll need to provide linens, a pillow and a blanket. Sleeping bags are okay too. Also, make sure to pack a towel and shower essentials so your participant is fresh and ready for another day of music fun!

Meals are served at the BLUU (TCU dining facility), where overnight participants will enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whether it’s a hearty breakfast to kick off the day or a delicious dinner to wind down, we’ve got numerous items to choose from, including vegetarian options. Remember to let us know if your son or daughter has any food allergies.

When it comes to medicine, our staff will handle required medications with care, following the proper guidelines—please remember to send detailed instructions about dosage, frequency and time of day and if the medicine requires refrigeration.

Evening activities include a tour of the TCU School of Music and a Q&A session with TCU music students. Participants will also enjoy an evening concert (no phones permitted in the concert hall), followed by a snack and quiet time before lights out.

The Summer Music Institute is committed to positive and safe experiences both during the day and overnight in the TCU residence halls. Please let us know if you have other questions or concerns.
