Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, Mariel Zúñiga is a pianist and educator who loves teaching both young and adult students. She began her piano studies at the age of four and has since developed a passion for sharing her love of music with others.

Mariel holds a master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy from Texas Christian University. Her students have won numerous awards and honors at competitions, including first place at the Texas A&M University-Commerce Sonata Competition and the American Protege Talent Competition. Her students span from accomplished competition winners to passionate hobbyists, and they come from various backgrounds and skill levels. She engages her students with a multitude of musical genres such as classical, sacred, popular, jazz, and improvisation.

As an active pianist, Mariel has performed as a soloist with the Kostromá Symphony Orchestra in Russia and played in diverse music festivals such as Música in Compostela (Spain), Fine Arts Festival (Russia), and Festival Internacional de las Artes (Costa Rica). She has collaborated with musicians from a variety of genres, including classical, jazz, and Latin music.

Mariel is a member of the Music Teacher National Association and the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. She is passionate about creating a positive and supportive learning environment for her students, and she believes that everyone has the potential to develop their musical talents.
