Ready to Apply?
Undergraduate admission to the Department of Theatre involves a two-step process:
- Application and acceptance through the TCU Office of Admission.
- Application, audition/portfolio review and acceptance to the Department of Theatre.
There is no specific order for these applications, but you must be accepted to TCU before your acceptance to the department can be finalized.

BFA Programs
First-Year Applicant Checklist
Students auditioning for a BFA program are automatically considered for the BA degree; no separate application is needed.
All applicants to the BFA Theatre programs must apply to the University. You do not need to know your acceptance status to the university before your audition or portfolio review for entrance to the BFA program.
All BFA Theatre programs require an audition or portfolio review for entrance.
- Acting & Musical Theatre majors: A performance audition is required
- Design & Technology and Theatre Studies majors: A portfolio review/interview is required
To schedule your audition or review, upload a complete profile to Acceptd for prescreening. If approved, you'll be invited to move forward.
The Department of Theatre will host both in-person and virtual audition dates. Theatre
TCU also participates in CAP United Auditions and National Unified Auditions.

BA Program
First-Year Applicant Checklist
All applicants to the BA Theatre program must apply to the University. You do not need to know your acceptance status to the university before your audition or portfolio review for entrance to the BA program.
The BA Theatre program requires a completed Acceptd prescreen containing the following:
- Resume
- Headshot (optional)
- A Wildcard Video explaining in two minutes or less your interest in the Theatre and any past experience.
- Monologue, song, or portfolio (optional)
No additional audition or interview is needed after submitting your prescreen. BA program admittance decisions will be shared by mid-March.
