Performance Opportunities
You can audition for the department’s six to eight annual productions, as well as for local Dallas–Fort Worth theatres and participate in biannual co-productions with professional companies. The Department of Theatre also offers three distinct performance venues, providing varied design opportunities. You’ll have access to:
- A lighting setup primarily of ETC equipment, including Eos and Ion consoles, providing hands-on experience with industry-standard technology.
- A range of intelligent lights, LED instruments and over 150 conventional fixtures.
- Fully staffed scenic and costume studio, where student designers learn their craft from professional staff, including skilled artisans, teachers and mentors.
Casting is based on who is right for the role, not on class rank, emphasis, or major. First-year students are eligible and often cast in their first semester.
All BFA Theatre majors are required to serve on a production crew each semester, rotating through a variety of assignments and training opportunities.
