Performance Opportunities
You can audition for the department’s six to eight annual productions as well as local Dallas–Fort Worth theatres and participate in biannual co-productions with professional companies. These collaborations offer students across all disciplines the chance to experience mounting a professional production alongside Equity actors — complete with a condensed rehearsal process and extended performance run.
Each spring, senior BFA Acting and Musical Theatre students also present a New York Showcase, performing for industry agents and casting directors.
Casting is based on who is right for the role, not on class rank, emphasis, or major. First-year students are eligible and often cast in their first semester.
All BFA Theatre majors are required to serve on a production crew each semester, rotating through a variety of assignments and training opportunities.
Career Prep & Alumni
Our graduates thrive in a wide range of careers — as actors, choreographers, designers, and technicians on Broadway, national tours and cruise lines.
