Emily Hiemenz ’16 is drawing on her background in fashion merchandising to rethink an everyday product for parents. St. Louis Magazine recently featured Hiemenz and Emily Rose Botanicals, the baby brand she founded after becoming more curious about the materials and dyes used in products made for her daughter.

Hiemenz studied fashion merchandising and journalism at TCU before beginning her career at Neiman Marcus in Dallas, where she completed the retailer’s executive development program and worked as an assistant buyer across several categories. Her experience working with emerging brands in the clean beauty and sustainability space helped plant the seed for eventually creating a brand of her own.

After becoming a mother, Hiemenz began looking beyond what baby textiles were made from, to consider how they were colored. “No one was really going the extra step of looking into what those materials are then dyed with,” she told St. Louis Magazine. “And I thought we can do better.”
