Through recognizable symbols of Americana, including denim, camouflage, hot dogs and baseball, the School of Art alumnus examines how everyday objects and cultural imagery shape perceptions of what it means to be American. His work combines physical and digital techniques, bringing together familiar materials in unexpected ways to explore themes of identity, religion and consumerism.

Wicker has exhibited his work internationally, including in Hiroshima, Moscow and the Netherlands. Now based in Houston, he continues his artistic practice while serving as exhibitions manager for FotoFest.

Like Apple Pie opens with a reception from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the BOX 13 Art Space in Houston at the BOX 13 Art Space in Houston.
