TCU Alumna Who Inspired Come From Away Comes to Casa Mañana
Beverley Bass ’74 made aviation history as the first female captain at American Airlines. A double major in Spanish and Interior Design at TCU, Bass went on to build a groundbreaking career in aviation, and her experience as a pilot on Sept. 11, 2001, later inspired the character based on her in the Tony Award-winning musical Come From Away.
As Casa Mañana ends its Come From Away run in Fort Worth, Bass's story is once again being shared with audiences. The production highlights her groundbreaking career and the events that inspired the show's popular song, “Me and the Sky.”
“The message of Come From Away is simple: We are all responsible for each other,” Bass said.
