Peyten Woodruff ’26 Finds Her Stride in Design, Athletics
Whether designing in the studio or running cross country, student-athlete Peyten Woodruff ’26 is proving there’s no limit to what a TCU student can achieve.
As a transfer student from Portland State University, she found her stride at TCU, both creatively and competitively. Peyten was recently awarded the prestigious American Advertising Federation Jeanie Ruedy Graphic Design Scholarship, which recognizes academically talented students in advertising-related fields in its district. She found the award assuring.
“It solidified that I made the right decision for myself and my future goals by coming here,” said the graphic design major. “It keeps me motivated to keep creating and pushing the envelope.”
Originally considering kinesiology or pre-med, Peyten’s path shifted after a conversation with her high school art teacher sparked an interest in graphic design.
“Peyten is an exceptional student, and she will be a strong representative of both AAF and the Department of Design,” said Chair David Elizalde, M.B.A.
Design, Discipline and Determination
Peyten is also a strong representative for TCU Athletics. Last season, she helped TCU Women’s Cross Country earn three first place team finishes.
“Being part of the women’s cross-country team really impacts how well I manage my time,” she said. “It’s created a good balance in my life where I can push myself both physically on the course and creatively in the classroom.”
Peyten will further her creativity this fall, when she will begin serving as creative director for ROXO, the student-led advertising and public relations agency housed in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication.
“I think it will be a great opportunity to grow as a leader and test myself as a designer,” she said.
Peyten credits much of her inspiration to the department’s faculty, especially Professor of Professional Practice Dusty Crocker, Ph.D.
“He’s insightful, funny and straight to the point,” she said. “I’m always captivated by the design knowledge he has.”
From the track to the studio, Peyten is making every moment at TCU count.
