Areas of Study

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design
The BFA in Graphic Design prepares graduates to be designers and/or art directors, providing a strong foundation in basic visual and technical skills, design theory and graphic design history.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design
The BFA in Interior Design emphasizes shaping our environments—where we live, work and play. The student will learn design process, theory and application, research, color and materials, furnishings, architectural lighting design, history of architecture and interiors, building codes and environmental systems, construction methods, sustainability, industry-specific technologies, and professional practice.

Bachelor of Science in Design Studies
The BS in Design Studies offers a flexible, broad-based alternative to the BFA degree that combines instruction in visual communication with a complementary academic interest (usually a major or minor) such as marketing, entrepreneurship, strategic communication and more.

Minor in Architectural Lighting Design
The interdisciplinary Minor in Architectural Lighting Design requires 18 semester hours and is open to all students interested in learning about how lighting impacts the environment. The program melds art and science to transform spaces and the human experience through the integration of natural and artificial light. Design professionals and community members interested in the lighting courses may sign up through TCU Extended Education. Minor course requirements vary depending on the student’s declared major. See the course catalog for a complete list of course offerings and descriptions.
