Students begin with a shared foundation in Graphic, Interior and Lighting Design principles before choosing a concentration in Graphic Design.

A flexible and comprehensive design education that blends core principles with real-world application.  

You’ll progress through foundation, intermediate and advanced coursework, with the option to tailor your education by combining essential upper-division graphic design courses with complementary fields of study. You can pursue a minor or double major in areas such as:

Students are expected to have a personal laptop that meets the department’s computer policy to ensure success in studio and design courses.

Design Foundations & Qualifying Examination

To declare a BS in Design Studies with a concentration in Graphic Design, students must pass a Qualifying Examination after completing all six Design Foundations courses.
