Events & Programs
DanceTCU is the performance company of the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance. Every BFA major is part of DanceTCU, which produces numerous performances each year. The faculty/guest artist concerts are produced twice a year, fall and spring, and feature works from established masterwork repertoire as well as new work created by faculty and guest choreographers.
Twice each year, senior BFA majors create new choreography for their performance series. The spring performances are the capstone projects for each senior. Concerts mix classical and contemporary works, and each showcase features four concert programs throughout the weekend.
Performance opportunities are available to all BFA candidates, from the first year through the senior year. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester for the DanceTCU faculty/guest artist concerts that are produced in Ed Landreth Auditorium.
Once each semester, the SCCD offers a Brown Bag concert, an informal presentation of student works in the Studio Theatre at Erma Lowe Hall. Students, faculty and staff across campus enjoy lunch and the performances.
A tradition since 1993, Chi Tau Epsilon Honor Society produces a concert to benefit the AIDS Outreach Center of Fort Worth and Tarrant County. In addition to guest artist choreographies, DanceTCU works are always a part of this concert. All proceeds go to the AOC.
TCU SCCD attends the regional conference of the American College Dance Association each year, presenting works created by students, faculty and guest artists in adjudicated concerts and other settings. DanceTCU work has been included in 10 of the 11 most recent gala performances and was chosen to perform at the Kennedy Center for ACDA’s National Festival Gala.
