Program Purpose

The TCU School for Classical & Contemporary Dance offers three BFA degrees: Ballet, Modern Dance, and the Ballet and Modern Dance double major.  These comprehensive programs blend artistic integrity, technical excellence, and critical inquiry and are designed to graduate dancers prepared to enter the dance field.

  • BFA in Ballet

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet offers professional preparation through daily ballet technique, pointe, variations, ballet partnering and opportunities to perform classical and contemporary ballet repertoire. Partnered with a curriculum that emphasizes depth of study in choreographic, historical, critical, and artistic research, the BFA in Ballet is both student-centered and comprehensive.

  • BFA in Modern Dance 

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance offers professional preparation through daily movement practices based in classical modern dance, postmodern dance, contemporary dance, contact improvisation, somatics and opportunities to perform historic and contemporary repertoire. Partnered with a curriculum that emphasizes depth of study in choreographic, historical, critical, and artistic research, the BFA in Modern Dance is both student-centered and comprehensive.

  • BFA in Ballet and Modern Dance (double major)

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet and Modern Dance combines the curricula of the BFA in Ballet and the BFA in Modern Dance with equal depth of practice in both areas. Partnered with a curriculum that emphasizes depth of study in choreographic, historical, critical, and artistic research, the BFA in Ballet and Modern Dance is both student-centered and comprehensive.
