Experience the vibrant traditions of mariachi at the 13th Biennial Latin American Music Festival hosted by the School of Music from Tuesday, Oct. 2 to Wednesday, Oct. 4. Since its inception in 1997, the festival has hosted acclaimed Latin American composers and artists to perform and showcase their talent with the TCU and Fort Worth community. This year’s festival features renowned guest artists:
- Pacho Flores, international trumpet soloist
- Mariachi Sol de Mexico De Jose Hernandez, renowned mariachi group
- Daniel Freiberg, acclaimed composer
- Eddy Marcano, internationally known violinist
Professor of Orchestral Studies Germán Gutiérrez founded the festival to promote Latin American music and musicians in the United States.

“Music touches the soul of a person,” said Gutiérrez. “I created the Latin American Music Festival to bring the best from Latin America to TCU and enrich the lives of our students and faculty. When we have the opportunity to interact with different cultures, we help our students become ethical leaders in the global community.”
Trumpet Recital with Pacho Flores
The festival will kick off with a trumpet recital with Pacho Flores in collaboration with Daniel Freiberg and Eddy Marcano Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU.

TCU Symphony Concert with Mariachi Sol de Mexico and Pacho Flores
The TCU Symphony Orchestra will present the closing performance Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU. The concert will include world premiere performances by:
