Why did you choose to attend TCU?
Growing up in the DFW area, TCU had always been my dream school. Being a first-generation student and just graduating from high school, it didn’t seem attainable to come to TCU. However, as I worked on my associate’s, degree at TCC I started to realize how compatible TCU’s art program was for me and my future. I applied for the school and scholarships, and that decision has thankfully brought to being the first to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in my family!

Transferring into TCU, I immediately immersed myself into TCU ArtOrg (@tcuartorg) and within a few months I was proud to say I became president of the organization. In my first semester I attended a retreat for the Lead Now network for Women, and by the end of the year I became a member for the TCU Society of Artists and Art Educators.

It may sound cheesy, but this is honestly an incredibly difficult question to answer because I have had so many phenomenal moments. To shorten my response, my proudest moment this specific semester would be me receiving the “Best in Show Award” for TCU’s annual juried exhibition for my artwork titled “Chica.”
What will you miss most about TCU?
The people. I feel so incredibly grateful for the community I have built for myself in the school of art. Late nights in the studios cramming to finish project, going to galleries with my friends, critiques or attending ArtOrg meetings – they are all moments I will cherish and honestly miss more than I can realize.
What’s next for you?
I am so excited to get into an art classroom that I can call my own. I plan on working with secondary students and teaching not only art, but critical skills and how large and colorful the world can be. I of course intend to continue making art and painting all around DFW, and when the time is right I would love to pursue a master’s degree specifically centered in fine art in order to gain a better understanding of myself and my own abilities as an artist.

During my time at TCU, I have had the opportunity to get involved in numerous organizations and internships. Per my degree requirements, a full-time internship throughout the summer of my junior to senior year is required. My major’s career development class set me up for success, providing me with the tools and connections needed to succeed. I was honored to represent TCU, interning at Stanley Korshak as the women’s designer intern. Additionally, I am involved socially in Greek Life, being a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity, as well as academically in my department’s honor society, Phi Upsilon Omicron. TCU encouraging me to become a well-rounded student has been beneficial in my academic career and will allow for a smooth transition to my professional career.

While at TCU, I pursued departmental honors, and it easily became my proudest accomplishment at TCU. Essentially a capstone of my academic career, this research allowed me to explore academic creativity and write about something I am truly passionate about. My topic, The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Global Fashion Industry, has allowed me to become an expert on the very industry I am about to enter.
What will you miss most about TCU?
The friendships I have made while at TCU are unparalleled. It is the small memories with my friends I am realizing I will miss the most, such as being able to take a quick walk between classes or grabbing a bite to eat at the end of the day. I am cherishing these last few weeks and look forward to keeping in touch after graduation, following along with where they go and what they accomplish!
What’s next for you?
After graduation, I will be entering an assistant buyer role here in Texas. I am super excited and feel fully prepared to enter the workforce. Go Frogs forever!

Why did you choose to attend TCU?
I fell in love with the school, city and environment when I toured, and TCU was actually the only school I applied to!

Last summer, I was a creative intern at Visionary Playground in Dallas, where I assisted in concepting new marketing strategies via social media. Over the past few years, I worked in the fine arts building print lab, where I assisted students bring their design project goals to fruition. I’ve also been involved in student-led clubs such as Design Focus, which strives to bring mentors and experienced designers in the light of TCU design students.

I am most proud of earning the Nordon Fine Arts scholarship my junior year of studies. This was achieved through many hours and long nights of perfecting my craft, learning new techniques and helping others along the way.
What will you miss most about TCU?
I will miss many things about TCU. The beautiful campus, the comradery of friends and mentors, the student activities and especially the feeling of Saturday football mornings in the fall.
What’s next for you?
I hope to stick around the DFW area to pursue a career as a brand designer with a design agency. Eventually, I will start my own business and use what I’ve learned to combine my passion for design and business to build a successful design company.
