TCU Jazz Ensemble selected to perform for TMEA, world’s largest music educators’ convention

The TCU Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Joe Eckert, has been invited to perform for the 2021 TMEA Clinic/Convention, the world’s largest convention for music educators. The TMEA convention, which will be held virtually Feb. 11-13, welcomed 31,000 attendees, including 11,000 music educators, last year in San Antonio, Texas. Being invited to perform at TMEA demonstrates the highest level of achievement in music education, as hundreds of ensembles apply for selection.

Notably, this is the second year in a row that a TCU ensemble has been invited to perform at TMEA, following the TCU Wind Symphony’s performance last year.

The TCU Jazz Ensemble received another international recognition in fall 2019 by being invited to perform at the 2020 Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland, though the event was unfortunately canceled due to the pandemic.

The TCU Jazz Ensemble is comprised of approximately 19 undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Music. For more information, visit the TCU Jazz Ensemble page, the TMEA website or the TMEA convention page.
