The sold-out Circles Conference hosted 430 creatives for an inspiring three-day event, bringing together leading designers from around the world. Organized by Circles Co., the conference featured transformative thinkers and provided students with a platform for networking and learning.

The Department of Design, a long-time sponsor of the event, had three students—Morgan Goerke ’25, Hailey Bogner ’25, president of Design Focus, and Bri Castillo ’25—attend in person for two days.

They connected with industry professionals, including alumni Ethan Casella ’22, junior art director at Schaefer Advertising Co., and Charlie Howlett ’06, vice president and creative director at the award-winning agency based in Fort Worth. Howlett also serves on the department’s advisory committee.

“Each professional who spoke at this conference had a different creative style and portfolio of work, all of which have been developed throughout their career,” explained Bogner. “Seeing this high-quality level of design work from professionals inspired me to continue growing in my skill set.”

As part of the department’s sponsorship, design and graphic design majors were also able to livestream talks from industry leaders, gaining valuable insights from some of the most influential voices in the field.

“I got to learn new perspectives on the industry, which made me feel more prepared to graduate,” said Bogner. “Though I do not know what the future holds, I have a clearer vision of what possibilities are out there for me to pursue. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity!”

The Department of Design is excited to continue its partnership with Circles, alongside faculty, students and alumni.

“It’s inspiring to witness the event’s growth, and we eagerly anticipate the inclusion of film next year,” said Department Chair David Elizalde
