Woodwinds Audition Requirements

For entrance into the TCU School of Music and scholarship consideration, applicants are encouraged to auditoin in person before the TCU woodwind instruments faculty. Solo auditions are preferred or you may bring your own accompanist.

Flute (BM, BME, BA)

  • Performance of two solos from the standard repertoire that demonstrates technical and lyrical ability. Could also be two contrasting movements from the same solo.
  • All Major scales and chromatic scale for the range of the instrument.
  • Pianist not required.
  • Length of audition is 10-15 minutes

Nordan Young Artist Award audition requirements

You will need to prepare repertoire chosen from three pieces representative of the Baroque, Classic, Romantic or 20th century periods (concertos may be selected). Scales will not be required if invited to the Nordan audition. Learn more about the Nordan Young Artist Award program.
