Woodwinds Audition Requirements

A prescreening video is required of all applicants consisting of the repertoire listed below. All applicants applying for a music major and/or scholarship must audition for the applied faculty. Additionally, all first-year undergraduates invited to audition will be considered for the Nordan Young Artist award.   • a 1-3 minute recording of a solo with or without accompaniment

Audition Repertoire

  • Two solos from the standard repertoire that demonstrates technical and lyrical ability. Could also be two contrasting movements from the same solo.
  • All Major scales and chromatic scale for the range of the instrument.
  • We request that candidates not perform any all-state etudes from the current or previous academic year.
  • Sightreading
  • Pianist not required.
  • Length of audition is 10-15 minutes
