MUSI 30812 080 Instrumental Methods and Materials I

Alisha Owner is a violist, violinist, and high school orchestra director in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. She has taught orchestra in Texas public schools for over thirteen years in the school districts of Arlington, Waco, and Fort Worth. Over her career as an educator, she has taught string players at every level from fifth grade through high school.

Dr. Owner earned her Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance from Baylor University, and her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was a principal violist in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Waco Symphony, and a section member in the Richmond Symphony. She has performed with many orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, and most recently the Fort Smith Symphony and Abilene Philharmonic. Dr. Owner is currently serving as an adjunct faculty member at TCU, sharing her experience with TCU students studying to be future orchestra directors in the Instrumental Methods and Materials class.
