Department of Theatre alum Sam Majors ’24 has booked an 11-month contract with Charleston Stage in South Carolina. Throughout the season, he will perform in multiple productions and collaborate with the creative team and nine other talented resident actors.
“I’m so excited to be doing show after show and building up the stamina to work and learn multiple shows at the same time,” said Majors. “I’m also excited to work with the other actors and to learn from them all.”
Majors landed this prestigious opportunity at the Unified Professional Theatre Auditions, a theatre conference in Memphis, TN. He auditioned with a 90-second package consisting of a song and a monologue. Upon returning to Fort Worth, he received an email for callback material, and two days later, he got the offer.
His time in the Department of Theatre allowed him to perform and work on material every week, if not every day. The consistent practice and exceptional teaching helped him gain the skills and consistency needed to step into the professional theatre world.
Majors has been involved with theatre since the 7th grade after leaving soccer and remained heavily engaged in the art form throughout high school.
“Theatre has always been what I wanted to do,” said Majors. “I love how it can tell stories of so many different people that are different from our own.”
