Since 2011, Graphic Design Instructor Jan Ballard has coordinated the Banned Books Jacket Design Competition in collaboration with the TCU Mary Couts Burnett Library. This annual event celebrates the freedom to read and raises awareness about threats to free speech.
This year’s first place winner was Phuong Nguyen’s design of Loving by Henry Green (pictured).
All graphic design student submissions will be displayed in the Reading Room at The TCU Library during Banned Book Week, Sept.18-24. The American Library Association has been celebrating Banned Books Week since 1982.
