Scholarship Highlight

Cordelia Wagner

“I received $1,000 of the Taylor Family Endowment for Fashion Merchandising award in the Summer of 2022. This fund positively impacted me as it made it feasible for me to do my dream fashion internship. For my TCU fashion internship class, I was a corporate merchandise buying intern for Macy’s in New York City. This experience was amazing as I was able to work directly with and learn from the Buyer for Macy’s Plus Size Ready to Wear, Denim, and VDF department. This entailed attending pricing meetings, learning the buying terminology, and analyzing Excel spreadsheets. My favorite part especially was going to showrooms across NYC to attend market appointments to determine purchase orders for the following season. Also, the experience of living in New York City for the summer positively impacted me as it exposed me further to a major fashion city and historical parts of America.

I am extremely thankful that I was given this scholarship as it made the internship not take a financial toll on my family or me. Ultimately, the internship helped me determine that I did in fact want to pursue a career in Merchandise Buying and helped lead me to my full-time job upon graduation with TJX Companies Corporate Merchandising Career Path. I truly appreciate all you do for TCU students like myself.”
