Student Organizations

Chi Tau Epsilon

Established at TCU in 1967, this honor society invites students who model excellence in performance, choreography and BFA dance studies. Alpha Chapter members are BFA candidates in ballet and/or modern dance who promote dance in the TCU community and greater Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The Alpha Chapter has a long-standing relationship with AIDS Outreach Center of Fort Worth and Tarrant County (AOC), and it produces an annual benefit concert in support of the AOC.

During intermission at DanceTCU concerts, Chi Tau Epsilon (XTE) members present Footnotes, a Q&A with XTE members about the dances presented at the concert.

XTE organizes the Brown Bag Dance performances held in the Studio Theatre at Erma Lowe Hall. These free presentations, choreographed and performed by SCCD majors, bring in the campus community for an enjoyable and inspired lunch hour.

Each fall, XTE welcomes incoming majors with activities and outings that help new students integrate into university life. Each spring, the members organize a banquet for the entire SCCD, recognizing all seniors for their accomplishments and announcing new officers and members.

SCCDance Student Representatives

At the beginning of the academic year, each class in the SCCDance elects one representative from among the majors in that year.  These leadership opportunities provide a direct channel of communication between students and the SCCDance Director.  “Reps” meet with the director a few times each semester, as a group and individually, to brainstorm, plan, report, envision, strategize, and offer feedback for growth and improvement.  Student voices are important in the SCCDance and the Reps bring those voices forward as we move our community forward.
