With a two-story gateway arch gracing the Rose Entry Plaza and the five-story King Tower, the 141,000 square-foot Brown-Lupton University Union (BLUU) is designed around student needs. Located in the Campus Commons, its facilities offer an ideal venue for cultural and intellectual events as well as attractive dining options and conveniently located mailing services. The T.J. Brown and C.A. Lupton Foundation made the naming gift for the Union. Lisa and Trustee Matthew Rose made the naming gift for the impressive entry plaza, and Roberta and Trustee Roger King ’63 provided the naming gift for the distinctive clock tower destined to become a campus landmark. Other features commemorating gifts to the Union include – The Fortson Promenade named in honor of Emeritus Trustees Kay and Ben Fortson ’57. – Gayle’s Pond named in honor of Gayle Ramsey, wife of Trustee Roger Ramsey ’60. – Johnson Amphitheater named in honor of Christina ’83 and Trustee Mark Johnson. – Allman Amphitheater named in honor of Trustee Allie Beth McMurtry Allman ’62. – Schmidt Heritage Center named in memory of Elizabeth L. and James B. Schmidt, Jr., and made possible by a gift from Maureen and Trustee Ken Huffman ’66.
