As we celebrate the 11th annual TCU Gives Day, we are honored to announce a generous challenge gift from Sally Fortenberry, Ph.D., professor emerita of fashion merchandising, who retired this past summer after a dynamic 35-year career at the college. She has pledged $50,000 to establish the Dr. Sally L. Fortenberry Fund for Excellence in Fashion Merchandising. Fortenberry invites you to join her by making a gift of any amount to any designation in the College of Fine Arts.

“Having dedicated my career to teaching and mentoring students, I’ve always aspired to recognize those who go above and beyond what is expected and excel both in and outside the classroom,” explained Fortenberry. “It is my vision that the Dr. Sally L. Fortenberry Fund for Excellence in Fashion Merchandising will be a small but meaningful catalyst to encourage, motivate and reward our students to dare to be the best they can be in all they do.”

Throughout her 35-year career, Fortenberry encouraged her students to fully embrace learning and engage in academic and extracurricular pursuits.

“Supporting the College of Fine Arts to benefit our students is both an honor and a privilege, and I do not take it lightly,” said Fortenberry. “I benefitted from the generosity of others while I was an undergraduate, and I am glad I can now pay it forward. I hope this fund will reinforce the meaning of excellence and inspire students to strive for it during their time at TCU, after graduation and throughout life.”
