“Being chosen for this award means so much to me, and it is due in no small part to those who support, mentor and guide me here in the Department of Theatre,” said Maas.

This prestigious gala celebrates the thriving performing arts community in North Texas, bringing together fine arts enthusiasts, supporters and advocates. Each year, honorees are nominated by the public in 12 community award categories and 11 volunteer award categories, making this event a true reflection of the region’s artistic spirit and dedication.

“When I got an email saying, ‘Out of a pool of hundreds of nominees spanning multiple categories, you were chosen to receive this honor by our esteemed Stardust selection committee, comprised of arts and civic leaders and past recipients,’ I was shocked, thrilled and, of course, honored,” said Maas.

“The tireless dedication that Maas has to train the next generation of performing artists is commendable, and this honor is well-deserved,” said Department Chair Jennifer Engler. “Beyond her classroom teaching at TCU, she designed our highly successful senior showcase in New York, creates countless professional casting opportunities for students in DFW and beyond, and mentors young choreographers.”

In addition to her work at TCU, Maas has actively participated in numerous organizations focused on inspiring and uplifting young artists in Texas. She regularly engages with the musical theatre community by leading workshops, presenting at the Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance and serving as a judge for various high school competitions in the area.

“While Maas brings her Broadway experience and professionalism to everything she does, it is her joy of teaching that shines brightest,” said Engler. “She is an educator at heart, and every student she engages with is fortunate to work with her.”
