Why did you choose TCU for your higher education?

I chose TCU because I wanted to travel to a new state for college (preferably somewhere warm!). Once I visited TCU’s campus and Fort Worth, I fell in love with it!

Why did you want to major in art education?

I chose to major in art education because I have always loved supporting the arts and creating art since I was young. I always thought I wanted to be a teacher, but I had no idea what I wanted to teach. Then, one day freshman year, it just clicked to combine the two areas I had always been passionate about, so I switched my major to art education!

Tell us about your time at TCU.

Throughout my four years at TCU, I was a member of the TCU Society of Artists and Art Educators and participated in a handful of the Moudy Gallery exhibitions and Mercedes-Benz [Financial Services Emerging Artist] exhibitions in Dallas. I also had a unique and enriching internship at Cook Children’s Hospital as an arts and wellness intern that gave me a new perspective on the benefits of art as well as how to broaden my teaching philosophy and experiences. Recently, I just finished my student teaching at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Fort Worth.

What are you most proud of in your time at TCU?

Some of my proudest accomplishments at TCU include having the Dean’s List honor and TCU Scholar all four years and being awarded the Nordan Scholar Awards the last two years.

What will you miss most about TCU?

What I will miss most about TCU is the many memories and experiences that being a resident assistant in Milton Daniel Hall brought me! I met my best friends and mentors through that job! 🙂

What’s next?

My next steps are applying to art teacher jobs in the DFW area!
