Expand your horizons through study abroad programs in more than 50 countries, plus service-learning trips overseas and internships around the globe. In addition to TCU’s semester, summer and short-term programs, graphic design students explore design through global courses.
New York and London Summer Programs
During the summer, graphic design students can study outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In alternating years, students have travelled to New York City or London to learn the business of design from seasoned professionals. This popular summer course typically occurs over the three-week May mini-mester immediately following the spring semester.
Industry visits to design firms and advertising agencies are integrated with classroom lectures and activities. Companies visited have included Olgivy Mather, Nickelodeon, Louise Fili & Associates, Pentagram Design (both the New York and London offices), Sterling Brands and many others. Despite a rigorous schedule, there are plenty of opportunities for sight-seeing and exploring. Scheduled weekends also include museum outings, plays and other group activities.
These trips highlight the global community, united by the common language of design, while instilling the importance of understanding business principles in mass communication. Several graduates in recent years have leveraged contacts made on these summer classes and studio visits into full-time jobs.
Future courses are being considered in Asia and other major design markets.Learn More
