No no no no I want you to be wide awake and hear details you’ve never heard before!

Printmaking exhibition by Gfeller + Hellsgård featuring experimental silkscreen printing and installation

Fort Worth Contemporary Arts
March 7 – May 4, 2019
Reception: Thursday, March 7th, 5-7pm

Texas Christian University is pleased to announce their collaboration with guest artists Gfeller + Hellsgård in the exhibition No no no no I want you to be wide awake and hear details you’ve never heard before featuring a new, site-specific print installation with large, temporary wooden structures.  This exhibition runs from March 7 – May 4 at Fort Worth Contemporary Arts, with an opening reception on Thursday, March 7th from 5-7pm.

Christian Gfeller and Anna Hellsgård have been working together since 2001 and are recognized for their commitment to rethinking and stretching the limits of the screen-printing process through experimentation. The French-Swedish duo work across a wide range of media, including zines, books, posters, installation and painting, and their vibrant style is best described as a hybrid of handcraft, punk and pop abstraction.

We have been exploring screen-printing for over 20 years. From experimental zines, we slowly shifted to unique artists’ books, monotypes and paintings, but we always felt there was more to be done. We wanted to go to the essence of the process, push the boundaries of the medium, be radical. We were looking for a way to transcend the rigidity of the technique. So we had to rethink and simplify, to finally get the form and content in adequacy. That’s how we started doing monumental minimal printing.
