Internships

At TCU, you’ll grow intellectually and personally, and you’ll also gain specific knowledge and skills for a successful career. You’ll learn by doing, stepping outside the classroom to turn your ideas into action. Internships are invaluable for helping determine which career path most interests you.

Graphic Design Majors

All BFA candidates are required to complete a creative internship in the summer between their junior and senior years.

BS candidates may participate in the internship program by an application and portfolio examination process.

Students secure internships as hands-on designers in design studios or advertising agencies in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. We assist students in finding appropriate internships through an on-site event that allows them to interview with businesses for summer internship situations — without ever leaving campus.

Most students remain in the local area, but you could intern anywhere. TCU students have spent summers in London, Taiwan, Peru, Panama, New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Saint Louis, Austin, Houston, among others. Frequently students are invited to stay on part-time at their internship venue during their senior year, while some get full-time offers.

Interior Design Majors

The Interior Design Internship is a 3-credit hour course held in the summer between the third and fourth years in the program. Students secure internships with professional interior design, architectural and multi-disciplinary firms. Opportunities for networking and interviewing are provided on campus and within the DFW metroplex where many students choose to intern. Interior Design interns have spent summers in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London, Singapore, and Florence among other cities.

TCU Policy on Internships

TCU offers hundreds of internships in any given semester and does not support political or personal statements associated with any of them. We evaluate each opportunity to ensure academic value as it relates to a course of study. Beyond that, we encourage you to seek the opportunities that best match your interests and to choose how to best fulfill your internship requirements.
